Default How was my draft?

I'm pretty thrilled about it personally.. 2nd keeper league..

Keepers:Kesler, RNH, Yakupov, Ryan, Parise, OEL, Keith, Schneider

Drafted:
Landeskog
Boyle
E. Kane
Varlamov
Vorachek
Kulikov
Ribeiro
Wisniewski
Clarkson
Georges
Stepan
Nabokov

I feel like I have some future keepers in Kane and Landeskog and a team that will win hits every week. My goaltending is a bit weak but its a weekly league so I wasn't overly concerned about my goaltending. Let me know what you guys think.

Definitely a nice draft. Only pick there I'd question is Georges.. if someone like Stepan is still available, I wonder what other strong talents are still out there?

With 2/7 categories as BLK, HITs I wouldn't really question Gorges as a late-round flier. I am a bit curious as to who else was available, but I don't disagree with locking up those categories with a later round pick.

Overall, I think you drafted pretty well. You have a nice balance of offense an peripherals, and since we're talking about a weekly league your goaltending shouldn't be much of an issue. In a keep 8, I am a bit surprised yet heartened by the fact you were able to grab Landeskog with your first pick. Stud potential in your format.

you are right that Kane and Landeskog have elite upside in your set up, i would acutally write them in as keepers for next year now.

If SOG were counted, Kane and Lando would be even MORE valuable. Solid picks all around.

Just doesn't seem like a very deep league if Stepan and Nabokov are still around, which means there could be better options for depth.

Overall not a bad team, I think what you do lack is a bit of a gamebreaker. Other teams will have a Malkin, Crosby, Stamkos or Ovechkin. Parise might be that guy, but I think he settles around the 75 point mark...

I dunno about your security with HIT. The thing is you have a few decent hitters in Ryan, Landeskog and Kane, but if you offset that with RNH, Keith, Parise... it kinda all gets washed out. A trio of Girardi, Backes and Clutterbuck could essentially wash out all of those hits that you would garner from your 6 players... HIT is a widely available stat, in order to really control it you need to have a "team wide" approach to it. Having a HIT monster then someone who doesn't hit at all, basically negates everything that the HIT monster does.

I agree with you that your goalies are going to be a problem. Schneider, Varly, Nabby isn't exactly the safest trio to go into the season with. Especially if Luongo doesn't get moved, you essentially have 2 half goalies and then a 3/5 in Varly... You don't have a clear number 1 starter.

One suggestion I would make is wait till the season starts and see how well your team goes with HITs I'm not as confident in your HITs department as you. If you're not dominating, then I would seriously think about moving Kane + Varly/Schneider for a clear cut # 1 goalie who could post great stats.

With goalie stats occupying 36% of your overall stats, getting that #1 goalie would benefit your team more than keeping a Kane just to maybe win the HIT stat.

I just took over this team mid way though last year and traded a lot of my veterans (hossa, datsyuk, hartnell, etc.) to get the keepers I did in order to get much younger. I have been trying very hard to get a gamebreaker but no one seems to be willing to ship any out. Because of that I have decided to focus less on points and more on HITS/BLK's and gather more young talent (Kane + Landeskog). I'm hoping a few of my keepers rebound this year and maybe I can make a 2 for 1 trade for a super star but that's a wait and see certainly. RNH and Yakupov both have big point potential (not saying they will be a Malkin/Stamkos/Ovy/Crosby but PPG certainly wouldn't be unexpected.

As for the Georges pick I will defend it to the death. In a weekly league any replacement defenseman over Georges would get me maybe an extra point per week. Georges will get me a ton of extra blocks and hits (and has strong +/- as well) from defense which is what I need my defense to bring to the table.
