Hey gents 'n lady (ladies?)
I traded up to get the fourth overall pick in my keeper leagues draft. Available is of course everyone in the 2012 NHL draft and a few other hidden gems (silverberg, rattie, amongst others). I'm assuming the first three picks will be Yak, Galchenyuk and Murray (this league usually copies the normal draft) so what I'm wondering and would LOVE any tidbits advice from you guys is should I grab Grigorenko, or grab a LW'er like Chris Kreider (who is also available). Nyquist is also available. I lost the title in a double tie break in the final last year, so needless to say I'm going for gold. My team is in my sig, any info would be greatly appreciated, I'll rep where I can

Well with a roster size like that and you only dropping four, Im going to assume that there aren't any solid vets out there that people would pass by in the early draft? I know you're fourth, but your team is stacked and if you had less keepers I would say screw the rookies lol.
Anyways...out of those listed I would go with Grigs because he has the highest upside IMO. I doubt any of those players will be the deciding factor between you winning and not, as that will most likely come with waiver pickups. So just go with the best available.

Jagr will be free as he was just dropped. I'm leaning towards Grigs, but am intrigued by Kreider, I just have absolutely no idea what his upside is.

I wouldn't touch Jagr with your team. If anything I would hold out and once you're dominating the league swap some of your offense for more goalie support.

i would take Krieder over Grigs on this one, he has shown (albeit a very small sample size) that he can play and play very well in this league in high stakes games. thier upside according to dobber guide is very similar (90 for Kreider and 92 for Grigs), but the 3Year Potential is in favour of Grigs at 72 to 57.
even with that i still take Kreider, just a gut feeling that he gets the better situation in NYR. i would look at upgrading your g-men if you really want to win though. Fleury and Rask are good, but it gets pretty thin after that. |

Like Grigs, Kreider and Nyquist but its Grigorenko for me. Highest upside, as he is proving with his inferno-like start in the Q this year. Over 2 ppg as an 18yr old = me likey. Its crowded in NYC and will be for a while; not so much upstate.

Good point! I also like that I have Vanek and he could end up being his center. I'm a fan of having two players on the same line. There's enough knowledgeable people in this league that if I take grigs in the first and wait for the third round to come (don't have a second rounder) Kreider will be taken.
