I still think Halak has upside. I know Elliott was the better goalie last year but I still think Elliott could come back down to earth.

Halak is not a 60-70 game workhorse though, so Elliott will definitely get his share of starts.

Exactly.. But I guess as your 3rd goalie, he may still be valuable as a spot start here and there or really valuable if Elliott misses any time..
I would probably still rather have him over: Nabby, BRRRRBROVSKI, Neuvirth, and Theodore

Keep in mind that only my top 2 goalies count... All year long points..

Last years numbers:(2 points a Win & 2 Points a shutout)

Rinne: 43 wins + 5 shutouts = 96 total year end points
Howard: 35 wins + 6 shutouts = 82 total year end points

Halak: 26 wins + 6 Shutouts = 64 total year end points

Halak last year would not have counted for me because only my top 2 goalies total year end points count.. The only way Halak will count for me is if he surpasses Rinne or Howard in total year end points.

This leaves only 2 possible options for Halak to count..

1. Howard or Rinne get injured and play less than Halak
2. Howard or Rinne play terrible sinking to Halak's points

In the end Halak is only insurance.. If Howard or Rinne play terrible or get hurt longterm he might count for me.. Otherwise he's not doing anything but allowing another team not to have him and giving me insurance.

In my pool any goalie with 30 or more wins is a better option then Halak because of his limited starts..

Does this make sense?

There is no rotation for goalies.. It wont matter with spot starts.. I cant just put him in its not head to head.. Its a total point system all year long.. Otherwise it would be a no brainer to keep Halak..
