Sim league so speed, size also a factor.

JvR and McNabb for Brown.

I am a little weak on the wings, so Brown would really help me this year and fill out my top 6. He seems to have settled in as a 25G, 60pt type of player with tons of hits obviously. However after the great playoff performance he had, a lot are saying he will take another step up...

Would I be giving up too much for Brown in this deal? I can afford McNabb as my D prospects are good (Faulk, Morrow, Larsen).

A lot of people think JvR is poised for a breakout but is he the 40G guy so many were projecting him as? Or is he more of a 60 pt player?

While I have zero experience with sim leagues, I would put the value on Brown at a fair amount higher than JVR. JVR on the Laffs may be a 50-point player or may approach 60 but as you said, Brown is already there. Take the proven over the potential.

Not a huge factor but Brown's +/- should be significantly better than JVRs too.
