Personally I like what you did. Drafting that low, you have a real uphill climb to compete in year 1. I think you did the smart thing, drafting youth and looking a year or two down the road. Chances are with a team that young, you wont be drafting that low next year but thats ok. Keep building your team through the draft and smart trading. You have some quality young pieces to build around.

Good job!

taking rask 15th overall is a bold move on his upside. otherwise nice draft, how many do you keep? brown is a solid steal in the 7th round too.

Personally, I think you did a great job at the draft. Taking Rask and Backstrom - awesome. In fact, I really like your top 5, plus going young in an inaugural keeper league is never a bad thing. In my dynasty league, I regret not going young early and am paying the price for it now.

One thing I would do is drop Paajarvi for Brian Gionta. Paajarvi will never be a big scorer.

5 on bench. What d'ya think?
How many do you start at each position (12F, 6D and 2G)? How many do you keep year over year?

I know I would gladly inherit this team in a 16 team league - wowsa you pulled some nice players.

I'd be looking at picking up Hackett given the number of teams and how young your team is. By the time you're ready to compete (maybe 2-3 years), Hackett could be quite valuable.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies! I feel a bit better.

With respect to keeping, we can keep as many as we want for as long as we want.

We start 12 F, 6 D, and 2 G (5 on bench). As it stands right now, I'm thinking I should give up Postma and Franson for 2 forwards to increase the amount of production each week...what do you think?

You did pretty well mate. Rask could turn out to be an incredible pick. Still a bit of risk there tho. Elliott is a great second goalie. He should have solid numbers and hopefully play at least 35 games.

Winning the first year is pretty doubtful, but you have set yourself up with a team that could win in a couple years from now.
