I think the more salient question is, "how does Rask's backup get placed head to head with a Stanley Cup winning, 35+ win, 29 year old starrting goalie for a team led by Crosby and Malkin?"

And who are the seven people who gave the edge to Khudobin in the poll, and what do they know that I don't?

You have to give him credit, after the game was decided and Fleury had his backup in there, Khudobin drove down the field and scored a last second touchdown. Never give up!

There are 32 goalies in this tournament and I guess he felt that the backup to still a relatively unproven Rask is worth an entry.

There are people who pay to see Anderson Silva slaughter the monthly scrub. Maybe this was by design.

Rask is not all that unproven. In fact, he is right on track to step in as no. 1, a role he has played in the past, and rather successfully. Rask vs. MAF may have been more interesting, but Khudobin vs. MAF is a bit of a mismatch.

It's the opening round. Rask vs Fleury could happen later.

Now that would be a head-scratcher, at least for me.

Just speculating why Khudobin is one the few backups in the tourney.

Yep, with 32 teams there are bound to be mismatches in the first round.

There will be some interesting matchups if it goes according to the seeding. See the bracket here:

http://hockey.dobbersports.com/index...law&Itemid=117

Both Rask and Fleury are #1 seeds in the same half so will meet in the final four if they make it.

We already have Rask vs Hiller in the second round. I have a feeling I know who'll win, but it could be close. Bryzgalov vs Price as well in the second is an interesting one - some different opinions are likely to surface there.
