Default Keeper advice - Hedman vs. J-Boychuk vs. Hamonic vs. McBain

We keep 3 D-men. I have two studs plus need to pick one of these guys.

Hedman - I'm giving up on.

J-Boychuk - Long term is he a goal producer? His +/- props up his fantasy value in our league right now. Shot total as well.

McBain - Is he going to live up to the talent/potential? Need the +/- total to fix itself and the shot total to go up. Will he get in the thick of things and bump up the PIM total?

Hamonic - Seriously considering him. His minutes should grow, he's got good ice time. Seems like him or Boychuk.

Scoring format is below
Goals = +2 Pts
Assist = +1pt
PPG = +1pt
SHG = +1pt
GWG = +1pt
Hat-Trick = +3pts
Plus / Minus = 1pt / -1pt
PIM = 0.2pt
Shots = 0.1pt

Boychuk has pretty consistently low point totals over the last 3 season averaging around 15.

You never know when Hedman is going to possibly take the next step. I don't watch a lot of TBL games by any means but he has the draft pedigree.

If you take a closer look at Hedman's output after his concussion last year, you will not be so quick to give up on him.

Well I'm afraid this is another "think long and hard before you give up on Hedman" post. Hedman is clearly a blue chip D man compared to the rest you have named. It gets repeated alot, because it's true, it takes time for most young defencemen to mature and begin to reach their potential. Patience. The break out might happen this year, take a look at Dobbers projection in the guide and pay special attention to the "sleeper piece" when looking at Hedman. Arctic has also mentioned Hedmans' finish last year after returning from injury and those numbers are extremely encouraging and support the argument that a break out could happen this year. McBain is a year or two behind where Hedman is now and will not give you the multi cat numbers you want when he matures. Boychuk is not showing marked improvement nor has he anywhere near the potential of Hedman. Harmonic is a nice second choice but when you look at 2 or 3 year upside I would suggest this is not even close. For me, Hedman.

Hedman for me and it wasn't close. He's not one of my favs, but out of this bunch, he takes the cake. IF anything, I think he holds some cache moreso than the others, if you want to deal him in a pkg later in the season. Keep Hedman.

I'd go with Hamonic here. Boychuk is tempting near term as his +/- might elevate his pool pt totals above the other dmen here. That could only be temporary. I think Hamonic will produce across the board and has decent PIM upside at around 125 and good shot potential as well. Hedman overrated. McBain is going to be buried or traded shortly. He's just your typical plain vanilla dman.

Hedman possesses the most potential of this group, but there's no telling if and when he'll reach it.

Regardless, he has to be the choice here.

Hedman
Hamonic
McBain
Boychuk

McBain
Hedman
Hamonic
Boychuk

The problem with McBain is the team he plays for is loaded with offensive defensemen. I've always liked Hedman, but with big (tall?) players, they tend to take more time "adjusting" to their bodies before having breakout seasons.
