I am picking 3rd and the second 1st is 12th.

Keep in mind this is 12 team 15 keep league. So 180 players already get taken.

Also my team is a few years from competing. Is it worth wasting one draft year for Ovie?

Without knowing all the other teams and intricacies of your league, I would say YES to dealing all of those picks for one of the elite players in the world who is still in his mid-20s. Looking at your team, you could use some major star power - enter Alex Ovechkin. With 180 players already off the board, you're looking at the best 6 players on every team off limits (on average). I'm not sure what those picks will land you but even if they are Grigorenko and Teravainen (or something along those lines) I still like this deal for you. If you can get Ovechkin for picks, you do it. The only way I would bail is if the picks were a lock to snag two guys like Yakupov and Galchenyuk + others (both project to be 75-90 talents).

I think it is a great deal for you. The players you would pick with the 2 first rounders will be good but nowhere near the value of Ovy. The other picks are almost completely irrelevant because of the drop in value.

This is ABSOLUTELY a great deal for you. It's always a plus to acquire PROVEN in favor of unproven. And you would get an elite player who is still relatively young. This could be a turning point for your club, easily a pillar to build on. If you obtain him and decide to trade him, be sure to NOT do what this guy did. Trade him for KNOWN commodities, if it comes to that point.

i'm also thinking - do it. Try to see if you can get a couple of draft picks back from him even low last rounders, then draft a few long shots - such as goalies. If he waivers then just do the deal straight up as you may only end up trading 2 or 3 decent prospects for Ovie.
