The Yahoo players list was just made viewable in my league and I was surprised to see that Byfuglien still has RW eligibility. Can that still be removed prior to the season or is it there for the season regardless? I can't remember a time where Yahoo removed eligibility once the list was published for any given year.

I'm with you there, Yahoo! has made some very suspect adds to positional eligibility, but I have never seen them take it away, I imagine its for the season (if there is one...)

I don't see his RW sticking around for much longer.

That is insane on Yahoo's part. Buff has been a steady D for at 2-3 years now.

How many people actually use him at RW anyway? He's more valuable as a D in fantasy. Yeah, I don't know why he still has it but it shouldn't make that much of a difference other than possibly getting the odd extra game in if the D slots are full.

It adds a lot of versatility for daily lineups. The impact is pretty significant. Other than that, it's more of a case of Yahoo being boneheaded.

Byfuglien's value is at D. The addition of the RW may give him a 1-2% boost in certain leagues.
For example, maybe a team is trailing in BkS and needs to roster an extra defenseman, then they could shift Buff to RW. Yahoo! won't remove a player's position during the year and never has (to my knowledge). |

That is quite uneducated of Yahoo! Buff has been strictly playing D for the last two seasons. I would suspect it will last all year now that the designation has been made.

This is one of the things I really appreciate after switching to CBS: no dual eligibility. Takes away the crap shoot of what positions will be added as the season progresses, and keeps the strategy used in trading for and drafting your team in the preseason relevant. In ESPN, by the time our playoffs rolled around, 75% of the forwards seemed to have dual eligibility, and it was annoying if GMs had drafted RW with lower production when now players he could have drafted at center could be slid into the RW slot. This problem was exacerbated by the fact that ESPN was quite responsive, and GMs who were weak at a position had some success emailing ESPN and getting players they already owned the necessary eligibility to balance their teams.
This also tends to hurt trading in a league. As the season progresses, there's less reason to trade from a strong position to shore up a weak one. In one season, I was close to sealing a trade including sending a LW, when the other team's Martin St. Louis suddenly got LW eligibility and scotched the deal. The same season I was negotiating to send a RW in a trade when his Eric Staal got RW and similarly torpedoed the trade.
