Bobby Ryan - He has broken out and regradless of where he is playing youre looking at 35 goals and 65 points. I think the battle in ANA will come to a head and he will either have a solid year or be gone.
Voracek - I am looking at 65-75 points over the next 3 years. The opportunity is there, he is a player trusted by his coach, he established a spot on the PP during the playoffs and he has a shot to play with one of the best players in the game. He is also all but guaranteed top 6 time.
Duchene - The player I am most excited to see. I have a few friends that are Avs fans who rave about him and are adamant that he was injured almost all last year. His speed, hands and abilities with opportunity mean this is the year for 65 points and I do not see him looking back, ever.
Kane - Another young player ready to put it all together with all the opportunity. I have been trying to get Kane in my other pool for three years. I think 30 goals and 60 points are there and he will lead Win in scoring for the next few years. 40 goals will come and the physical play is just a bonus.

The next group are paired as they are on the same teams and sher some of the same issues.

Perron/Berglund - where I think Perron is more talented offensively right now, berglund has a better shot at the second line C spot and will eventually be better than. Perron has injury woes as well. Their biggest problem is thaeir coach and system whhich I doubt will allow either of them to break 60 points this year.

Ennis/Hodgson - One of the better battles. Both could be the #1 C in BUF. Ennis' game emerged at the end of last year but whichever of these players can develop chemistry with Vanek and or Pomminville first is likely to get the advantage. I like Hodgson to succeed this year as the #1C, but maybe not out of camp. I also like Ennis on the wing and see these two as potential linemates (especially if they decide to keep Grigorenko or Ott fits in the top 6) Regardless You are looking at a top end of 60 points this year.

Schenn/Couturier - Two young talented players fighting for minutes on a talented team. Unlike the previous pairings PHI can score, but PP time is vary hard to come by as is an offensive role. Couturier has all but locked up teh thired line C role so my vote is for Schenn to out produce his teammate. If things go well with Briere I can see Schenn approaching 50 points this year and then 70 is not out of the question over the following two years. (All bets are off if either is traded though..HA)

Finally teh Wild Cards of the bunch:

Boedeker I have had Boedeker on my bench for years. I think he has all the skills and all-star speed. With that said I can not see any scenari where he axceeds 55 points. That would be a breakout for sure on PHX but like the boys in St. Louis, 55 might be the top scoreer for the next 3 years.

JVR - 90 points easily.. (I am a Leaf fan..cough..cough..) Sorry. I think TO will be a big adjustent for JVR. IF he gets the #1 C role and IF he develops chemistry with Kessel/Lupul and IF ... well 65 points would be a great year for him. My feeling is that he would be a great compliment to a second line with Grabovski if a winger gets moved. there are also injury woes but I am assuming he is in perfect health. (cough..cough..Leaf fan)

Okoposo - The biggest wild card of the bunch. I also think he is the palyer who will step up, score 35 goals and break 65 points. The guy is about to be rescued from Frans Neilson by JT and he will not look back. He makes me nervous but if I can get my hands on Okposo, I trade him after his first hat trick for a reliable 75 point player. He may only get 1 week or 1 year on JT's wing so I am pulling that trigger as soon as I can. I hate the Isle enough to know I know absolutely nothing about what is ever going to happen there.

I am really praying there is no lockout.
I like Boedker. Always have. If he could consistently use that talent he showed on that one Nashville goal (the only one he scored against them that series) he'd be a player to watch. He might get that shot now with Whitney gone. However he needs to get ice time. Will Tippet give him time? He isn't going to do much with 13 minutes a game. He got 16 in the playoffs and responded with 8 points in 16 games putting up 2 shots and 2 hits a game.

I'm praying there is no lockout either but it might be the best thing for the Leafs :P. Allow JVR and Lupul to be sure they are healthy and come back roaring :P

I will mix things up a little bit.. all of these posts are solid so there isn't much more to add but I will talk a bit about relative value going into next year.. AKA I'm bored

Voracek - Probably one of the worst kept secrets as a breakout candidate. Everyone is expecting it.. big contract, 1st line duties, power play, solid playoffs last year (although let’s keep it in perspective considering how bad the Pen's D/goaltending was) I will say he is this year’s "Jamie Benn". - Value: Fair

Ennis - Great finish to last year and I don't see him slowing down too much, he has adjusted his game to deal with his size. He should do very well and he isn't nearly as hyped as Voracek.. he should provide excellent value if you can get him. - Value: Relatively Cheap

Schenn - Much less sold on him due to the depth in Philly, his perceived value is a bit high in my opinion - Value: Slightly expensive

Berglund - He could probably be had relatively cheaply, he doesn't have the hype he use to and is stuck in STL. That being said I don't see a lot out of him. - Value: Shot in the Dark / Decent throw in

Kane: All the signs are there but he is missing a good puck moving center and he needs to establish himself on the power play. - Value: Slightly Expensive

Boedeker - Phoenix needs someone to step up offensively and Boedeker has the talent to do so. Phoenix will always be defense first but someone needs to get the offensive chances. Although I don't think he will be putting up 70 I do like his value. - Value: Cheap

Bobby Ryan: He is established already. That being said he is the most confusing player to peg his value. He has the skill to put up 80 points there is no doubt but his future is in limbo. If he gets on the 1st PP he will be solid but to peg his value is nearly impossible because everyone knows him opinions vary greatly. Value - League Dependent

Perron - Injury prone and on a very deep team, he can be very easily forgotten. Perron has 4th talent but a 16th round brain. Value - Relatively Cheap

Hodgson - Someone who can easily be forgotten about in Buffalo, he has some talent but I don't see it this year. Value: Fair

Couturier - High draft pick with offensive talent however he is in a depth chart battle and will be relied on for his defense. Value: Slightly Expensive
JVR

Duchene - Log jam in Colorado and coming off a down year. Duchene definitely has the talent to be a top end player though. Value - Fair to Expensive (depending on your league)

Okposo - Every year he is projected to break out and doesn't. However; this year could be the year. Okposo has fallen off the face of the earth it seems for value but if he is given the chance to play with Tavares things can change very quickly. Value - Dirt Cheap

Saw Couturier play Midget AAA at 13 y.o. and dominating vs kids 3-4 years older . The defensive play is to get a regular shift in the NHL nice and early . He will be a very , very good offensive player in no time . Maybe 2-3 years max. Don't be fooled . He's already untouchable in my league . The other guy knows that too .... ( you heard it here first :-))

I'll concentrate on the 4 I think have the best chance of a "significant" breakout:

1. Voracek - Will ride shotgun with Giroux and Hartnell and looked fabulous in the playoffs. I can see 65-70 points in his future.

2. Ennis - Awesome talent and started to take off late last season. I see him in the 60-70 range - closer to 70 if all goes well.

3. JVR - If he lands top line duty with Kessel and Lupul he could really explode barring he stays healthy. Regardless, he will be in a top 6 role and will shine with the Leafs.

4. Schenn - Like Voracek, he looked great in the playoffs. This year everything is lining up well for Schenn - his brother is in town and he's slated to be on a decent scoring line with Briere and Simmonds. The Flyers will give him every chance to succeed offensively.

This is exactly the kind of detailed analysis I was hoping for! A couple of points; as soon as I hit submit thread I knew something wasn't right. It didn't take long for the Grammar Cop to nail me!! Yes Boys's, always double and triple check, Sentium, now working under cover as Dakkster is out there!! Ah, too funny.

Like I said, don't get hung up on the term break out. I've been thinking about this, maybe it's another thread, but I think you could say that a lot of the more "elite" talent actually have a couple of breakouts? In the case of Ryan, yes, he broke out, but them stumbled. So, he needs to "bounce back" but will he break out and become that ppg player that many expected?

Appreciate everyone's hard work on this, these forums are gold because of they guys contributing. Hopefully, we'll get some more great posts.
