Default Re:The Value of a D-man

I\'ve always used a point spread system. My general rule is to look where the #20 forward and #20 Dman would be in terms of points... or #50 and #50. My point is to compare the players by their ordinal position in the points totals for their positions (F, D or G) and then compare apples to apples. If a typical spread is (say) 30 points, then take the D man if the spread betwwen the two players is less than 30 and the forward if the spread is greater.

I think Whitney is a no brainer ! Three years ago I took Gonchar 19th overall. After two picks I din\'t have a forward.

First year : I finished 2nd overall
Second year : I won

Just wanna say that you can always find a good forward, but the excellent d-men are like gold, they aren\'t so easy to find !

You can count on one hand how many D-men can get 70 points, so they should take precedence over any player except a Top 5 goalie or a 100-point forward. Just my immediate thoughts...
