I obviously don't know as much about this as I do hockey. Is there any chance after missing a year and major neck surgery that Peyton Manning will never be back to elite? Mario Lemieux came back to hockey and didn't miss a beat, is Manning to football what Lemieux was to hockey? Or is he a small step below that standard?

In my view, he will be a serviceable #1 but not elite. Better stats in the second half of the year than first, as he builds relationship and timing w/his receivers.

Yards will be there, I think it's the TDs that ultimately take the hit. Especially in the first half. Elite = Consistency, and I just don't see that out of the gate.

I am confident that Peyton is going to return to....very good status. It's going to be hard to compare because the line in Indy was amazing, and he knew that system inside and out. He also doesn't really have the same options as he did as a Colt in terms of receivers.

However, I do love the fact that he now plays in a division with San Diego, KC and Oakland.

A 5% loss of arm strength really isn't going to diminish Manning much. Plus, older QBs always learn to rely more on the mental aspect as they age anyway.
