I really look forward to seeing an arguement for Okposo scoring more than JT. I can't find one stat (junior or NHL) that could even suggest that Okposo has a chance.

Insane puck skills and hard work? Tavares has brought both to games more often than Okposo.. I think it's just as simple as: Tavares is simply more talented than Okposo.

take off the blinders people. of course Tavares is the better player BUT will he be a PURE goalscorer in the NHL OR will he round out his game to become more of a playmaker and therefore spreading the goal wealth. If JT is only scoring goals an no one else is than NYI is going no where
there was a time that okposo was highly regarded. not JT regarded, but highly regarded nonetheless |

well Tavares, but if Okposo ever plays with Tavares then he might be just dishing it off to Okposo who should be open if they key in on JT

i was wondering what took you so long. agreed. this is my point exactly. of course if im a betting man i take tavares BUT i want reality and not just fantasy upside and reality tells me that the goals will be spread out in Long Island. just playing devils advocate.

I see Tavares exploding and getting 40 to 50 goals sooner rather than later.

I hope you didn't read my post to say that he doesn't have the ability to be more than a 35 goal scorer, I'm talking about this season. I definitely think he has what it takes to hit 40 goals someday with a playmaking winger or two (if the Isles ever go out and spend some money or make a big move and bring in a guy like that).

The goal scoring Tavares showed in juniors has not translated to the big show. And, he has become a much better playmaker with the islanders than he ever was in junior. Who would have thunk? That said, the kid has Crosby like drive and a killer work ethic. He already said that this summer his focus was to improve his very mediocre shot... Wouldn't surprise anyone to see him become very very good at both....

With Islanders offense being the way it is i don't see anyone cracking 40 goals anytime soon but Tavares has the best shot at it compared to the rest of them. I'm confident that he will hit 40 quite a few times in his career and maybe top 50 a few times as well just not until the Islanders offense improves.
