That's awesome. I can't wait to see it on tv. If I had more money, I'd consider going to stay with friends down there and go to a game, but not this year. Have fun and go Kings!

I bet that place goes crazy. I need to go to a game at Staples sometime. It's the only place I haven't been to in Ca. I went to the Pond years ago to see Mario Lemieux play and I've been to many games at the Shark Tank.

Wow, last night at Staples Center was absolutely the most exciting sports moment of my life. I am at a loss for words on what it meant to witness my home town hockey club win the biggest prize. I haven't been this emotionally invested in a sports team since my childhood.
I had hoped to provide much more info and perspective on the Kings for the Dobber community this season, but life has been getting progressively busier. I have already told Gates that I won't be able to continue with the Black Aces coverage next year. I would like to share one story, though, that keeps coming back to me today. For the past few summers, the Kings have put on a pre-season pep rally of sorts called Hockey Fest. One of the most popular activities has been the Kids Press Conference, where Kings players field questions from children. This past summer, Jonathan Quick was part of the panel. Not only were Kings fans able to see Quick's humorous side, there was an memorable question from a young girl. Keep in mind, Jonathan was coming off from a solid campaign, where he had racked up 35 wins, a .918 SV% and 2.24 GAA, and had established himself as a legitimate #1 goaltender. When the microphone was placed in front of this young fan, she asked in a squeaky voice if Jonathan Quick could "do better this year". Some adults chuckled, thinking how can you ask any more of Quick. The young goaltender smiled politely and assured her, he would try very hard to be even better this year. When he kept giving the Kings a chance to win games with no goal support, when he was named a Vezina finalist, and then the Conn Smythe winner, when he skated around holding the Stanley Cup aloft, all I could think of was him telling a little girl he would try to be even better this year. |

Sutter indicates Quick could start 90-100% of games this season. Doubtful...but....
Bernier on way out the door? http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/lak130113a.html
