Default Keeper D-man to target?

In a limited Keep 4 pool, I've been advised to try and keep an elite player for every position. I already have 3 of my keepers set in Tavares, Neal, and Lunqvist. But I don't really have any elite D-men to speak of. Is there anyone I should target and would be worth keeping for next season over the rest of my roster? If so who and what should offer for him? Unfortunately Karlsson is out of the question, I already tried but the owner is not interested.

Weber - he's 3rd in shots this year and the rest of his production is catching up after his terrible start. He is a multi-cat stud. Might not be cheap, but the point is he is available now when he otherwise might not be (which is how I got him...)

Keith Yandle

- He is durable played all 82 games the past 3 seasons if I am not mistaken.
- He was also close to 200 SOG the past few seasons.
- His +- is awesome considering who he plays for.
- Pts. are nothing to be ashamed of either, averaging around the 40 pt mark.
- Scored more than 10 goals the past 3 seasons and is on the way to producing the same amount again in half a season.

If you want someone on your team where you are pretty guaranteed to know what his production will be, this is the guy to go for.

I'd just keep another stud FW and draft that stud D you need in the first round... as nice as it would be to have one to protect, you don't want to overpay to get one. I'd wait and draft...

I'd be keeping Benn and drafting a dman in the first round!

Agreed. The goal should always be to hold the players that you will have the hardest time replacing on draft day. In a keep 4, you should have an easier time drafting a top tier dman than a guy like Benn.

I disagree with this logic.

There are more "Benn" type players available as opposed to "Karlsson" type players.

I would be looking to get a top 5 d-man and keep him but that's just me.

Judging by your cats these would be the four I would focus on ...

Letang - probably the most expensive of the bunch but a point/ game D don't grow on trees

Weber - like someone said earlier, making amends of slow start and learning to play without Suter

Pietrangelo - doesn't offer much in PIM but solid in all other cats

Subban - lower of the 2 but plays shoots the puck a ton, mans the PP and gets various PIM. Probably your best by low candidates

In a keep 4 in a 12 team league, these would be the only 4 D other than Karlsson I would entertain keeping based on your format. Not sure I would keep Subban but he may be on my bubble

I agree with keeping Benn. But if you really want to grab a D keeper, target OEL.

This is what I was thinking. Still try and make a trade but this is good fall back option. Could also try and get young stud D. Like Dougie Hamilton or Justin Schultz.

Ill try to target Letang or AP with Timonen+ maybe a secondary piece, he's killing it right now. Ill see what their owners say, but I wont push too hard for either one, im not willing to overpay at this point of the season. Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.
