Right now, I'd say it's 50/50. He will be in camp and it all depends on his performance. If he shows signs that he belongs, he'll stay for at least the trial period (not sure what that is in the new CBA). The OHL won't help him much more with his development and he can't yet go to the AHL. On the other hand, the Isles will be cautious as they've been burned before with premature promotions.

i think nino has a better chance of making the team than strome does.

I would think after Niederreter's one goal in 55 games last season the Islanders would be especially cautious with Strome. Unless he absolutely kills it in the trial period (I think it's going to be 6 games) the Islanders let him dominate the OHL this year.

i'll say that Strome is really helped by Tavares being in NYI since he doesn't have to be the #1 guy If they didn't have Tavares, I think he busts.

They do have Tavares, probably for quite awhile. Are you now backtracking to say that he will not bust, since Tavares is on the team?

Just trying to understand.

On a side note, I wonder how long it will take for the 'I hate Strome' crew to change their minds?
