Rumoured to be Buehrle, Johnson, Buck, Reyes, Bonafacio to the Jays for:
Escobar, Hechavarria, Alvarez, Nicolino, and others |

At first glance this looks like pure trade rape...seriously. The other considerations have to be pretty big.

"Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Blue Jays have acquired Jose Reyes, Josh Johnson, Mark Buerhle, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck from the Marlins in exchange for Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez, Jake Marisnick and Justin Nicolino."
As far as I can tell, that's Hechavarria and Marisinick for good players that make money, albeit a few question marks (JJ's health for one). As a Jays fan, I'm loving this. Screw Esobar and screw Alvarez. Although...as a JJ owner I do feel a little sad on the inside. And as a Stanton owner I now feel dead on the inside lol

Jays fans...take a moment and realize, we have the best rotation we've had in a very very long time.

Wow, monster deal indeed. Glad to see AA finally grow a pair and take a risk. Jays are giving up a lot but the return could well be worth it. Reyes can be an all star SS and finally getting some quality starting pitching.
They are giving up a ton. To be honest I am shocked they gave up both Hech and Escobar. I would have rather seen then send JPA and open the spot for d'Arnaud and keep Hech. Nicolino is one of their top young arms (I drafted him last year in my keeper so I am familiar with him.). Maybe the fact they haven't moved a catcher means AA isn't done yet. If Reyes can return to form and Johnson can find his health, this could be a very good deal for the jays. Buerle is consistent and should bring some stability to the rotation.

Well done, Alex Anthopoulos!!!! It seems every time I disappear or go away for a while something like this happens, its strange. ![]() I don't see how this can be a bad deal and this shows that the Jays have the money to take on high salary players, they basically gutted the Marlins except for Giancarlo Stanton in this deal.
