Studs & Duds

STUDS

"Nasty Naz": It Ain't Hard to Tell who the leading scorer is for the Leafs now of days. Coming off of a 1G,1A performance with 3 SOG and 16:51 of ice time (2:22 on the PP) vs. New Jersey last night. Kadri now has 23pts in 23gp. All of this damage while playing about 15:00 minutes a game. This kid is simply explosive! He has 9 pts in the last 5 games, 3 of the 5 being multi-point performances. This guy is hot enough to light up his own universe, and that's exactly what he is doing. Naz is truly playing like he rules the world!

"March of the Penguins": Here we are in early March and it looks like the Penguins are hitting their stride... Crosby with 1G,1A (36pts in 23gp). Malkin returns from injury with 1G,1A (23pts in 19gp). Neal with his 14th goal and Letang with 2A. The only thing missing was a dynamic game from Fleury, but what can you expect against an offensive force like Tampa Bay. Pens win 4-3 and have a firm grasp on their playoff destiny.

"Lightning Sriking Twice": Steven Stamkos potted 2G (16,17) and is the league's leading goal-scorer. If he only he had a Malkin on his team. Imagine the damage he would inflict! No doubt in my mind, he is second to only Crosby in fantasy hockey. Make that 34pts for him in 21gp).

Killing Them Softly

Three of a kind (Kings): Jeff Carter with 3G. Voynov with 3A. Jonathan Bernier stopping 18 of 19 shots (.947),winning 5 in a row with a 1.00GAA and .951sv%. Should Quick owners be worried? I'm just saying.

OEL: 1G,2A. Another young player playing outstanding hockey as of late. The kid was clutch last night with the GWG.

Kyle Chipchura: 2A last night. Don't look now but that's 10pts in last 12GP!

Duds

"The bigger they are, the harder they fall": Pekka Rinne stood fairly tall until he was chopped down by the Kings who took him to the woodshed for 5 goals, 4 of which came in the final period. Pekka finishes ended up stopping 8 of 13 shots finishing the night with a .651sv%. Too bad this isn't baseball. Those numbers would make one hell of a batting average! :-(

"Devils need an advocate": Well, what they needed last night was for their big guns: Clarkson (-2), Kovalchuk (-1), Elias (-2) and Henrique(0) to show up. They were all held scoreless. You can't tell me this team doesn't need a Parise!

"Duck, Duck, Goose!": The Ageless One, Teemu Selanne, finished the night with goose eggs. Sadly, this is his 4th scoreless game in his last 5. C'mon, Teemu. It's time for one of your vintage hot streaks!

I'm outta here... One!
