Two updates below from the Columbus Dispatch - seems he's not quite ready to come back although he's going on the road trip. My bet is he doesn't play the first three games of the road trip, and suits up for the first time on Thursday the 21st v the Red Wings.

Portzline: "A full complement of 23 players was slated to be on board. Cam Atkinson (high ankle sprain) said he would be a last-minute decision after coming off the ice – “I wanted to see how it felt and it’s not there,” he said – but coach Todd Richards said he would make the trip. Still, the Jackets recalled forward Nick Drazenovic from AHL Springfield later this afternoon. Drazenovic will be the 14th forward but could come in handy if Atkinson can't play and/or another forward is injured."

Mitchell: "Right winger Cam Atkinson (high ankle sprain) has missed the past 10 games but had tentatively planned to return on Friday against the Kings. It’s unclear whether that will happen. Atkinson said the injury was bothering him after practice yesterday and he wasn’t sure if he would travel with the team. He was later examined by trainers and made the trip. “I wanted to see how it felt, and it’s not there (yet),” Atkinson said. Atkinson’s status prompted the Blue Jackets to recall forward Nick Drazenovic from minor-league Springfield. Drazenovic, 26, had 16 goals and 29 assists in 46 games for Springfield and is the No. 3 scorer in the American Hockey League. He was signed by the Jackets as a free agent on July 1, 2011 and played with Springfield last season. He has played in three NHL games, all with the St. Louis Blues in the 2010-11 season."
