Read something on the weekend (I think in the Sun), that brought up an interesting point. Washington doesn't hit experienced coaches. Instead, they opt for rookie coaches and hope to find success that way.
Oates, hunter, Boudreau, Hanlon and Cassidy. The last five Washington coaches, none had NHL head coaching experience before they got the gig.
Maybe it's time to bring in an experienced guy?
