It's very interesting the direction they chose to go in.
Dexter killing Hannah's father, and then fully intending to kill Laguerta - 2 people not fitting the code at all, especially the latter.
And then Deb actually killing Laguerta, in addition to planting more evidence on Doakes and having already helped Dexter burn the church.
I think the writers are slowly shifting these characters into ones we actually hope get caught. And that would be an amazing accomplishment as I don't think anyone wanted to see Dex get caught. But it's more and more difficult to cheer for this guy. He's now willing to kill simply to keep the life he no longer considers "fake."
Nobody liked Laguerta anyway, but even so, she didn't deserve to die. What will happen next year when the very likable Bautista investigates her disappearance? If Deb shrieked over LaGuerta's murder, what would she do if she (or Dex) had to kill Bautista purely out of self preservation?
It's going to be a LONG wait for next September. At least Breaking Bad will be back in the summer.
