I'll have to respectfull disagree...while I do like Barberio's chances of becoming a regular in Tampa's lineup eventually, I don't believe it'll be during the 2012-13 campaign. Barring significant long-term injuries aside, with the Lightning's acquisitions of Matt Carle and Sami Salo, to go along with Hedman/Brewer/Mikkelson/Lee/MAB/Aulie theres just too many defenseman on one-way contracts.
Beyond this season...most likely scenario is Barberio plays 50-60 games for TB during the 2013-14 campaign, and is a full-time regular in 2014-15. I think its unlikely he'll produce high end offensive numbers in the NHL, and will take some time adjusting to the NHL level, as defenseman more often than not do. In terms of fantasy potential, I don't see Barberio having much until the 2015-16 season.
(As a Lightning die-hard though, I sure hope I'm wrong though!)
Stamkos was asked today in Tampa how he can top last season:
"Well, get into the playoffs. That's the big key and that's our goal here."
