Great goaltending, though for me I don't think you needed to grab two goalies that early (I assume Bryz in the 2nd? Or 3rd?). Even though there's a 40% goalie category ratio, in H2H you don't need the studs to be successful. If you did get Bryzgalov in the 2nd, I would have preferred you pick a forward instead in that spot since you already had Quick. What was your draft slot? But I do hope your goaltending works out since I have Bryzgalov and Varlamov in the RHRS! I would consider using one of your goalies as trade bait, especially if they start off well. There's bound to be a manager who's looking for an upgrade and the perceived value of goaltending in this league is likely high so you could take advantage. Of course depends on the fit.

Then some who should continue to improve like Benn, Hall, Wheeler, Voracek, and Kulikov when and if he signs. Then Parise and Quick should be solid as expected. Everyone else should be either steady or make for decent backup plans. Without knowing the other rosters I'd agree that your team is at least "serviceable", I'm not sure I see a championship coming out of it but anyone can have their team click. The key will really be the group of Backstrom, Roy, Green, and Bryz. I believe they will all have good production and if they do you will wind up in the top teams. If there is one player I would look to move it would be Carter. I think he could score 60 points but I'm a bit apprehensive about it. I'd look to see if someone in your pool still thinks he can pot 70+ and trade him.

Yeah I just felt like there was too much value to not take guys from my mid-late picks. I honestly will openly say that I regret my early picks...I reached on Nick Backstrom in round 3 and was hoping I would start a goalie rush in round 4 with Bryzgalov. When guys like Crawford and Lindback were sitting out there in the later rounds I felt like an idiot. Voracek in the 10th round is also a pick I regret. I thought I was getting a good pick there but wasn't aware that he was no longer planned for top line duty.
But I felt like I couldn't pass up on some guys. Round 8 - Mike Green Round 11 - Ryan Callahan Round 12 - Derek Roy Round 13 - Jeff Carter Round 16 - Tomas Plekanec Round 17 - Martin Havlat Round 20 (last round) - Dmitri Kulikov Don't get me wrong I know this team could easily tank it this year lol. I guess I'm hoping that I took some risks that will pay off. Thanks for the input guys. Keep em coming if you want! |

Have a couple of possible deals in the works:
Give: Parise, Quick, x Receive: D.Sedin, Fleury, x We haven't settled on who the x will be on each side, but my buddy has agreed that he will need to pony up a pretty significant upgrade if I were to pull the trigger on this. Another one: Give: Nick Backstrom, Hall, Voracek Receive: Giroux, Semin, Parenteau Some risk involved with this one if Giroux regresses like many believe he will and if Semin can't figure his shit out... Thoughts? |

2. Love your LWs... very nice. And I actually like Plekanec, I think he's one of the more underrated forwards in standard 6-cat fantasy hockey. 3. Not fond of your D. Ugh. I'd almost consider rostering a PIM goon there to stock your PIM. Deryk Engelland (PIT), Stu Bickel (NYR), Matt Carkner (NYI), Clayton Stoner (MIN). The former two are faves of mine since they play on good teams and should have good +/- and token assists. Overall, I'd say it's a middl-ish team. 5th-7th in the regular season. In case you missed it, the Same Night Tool suggests that ANA/COL/CGY/CHI have nice off-night schedules, on the rarer Mon/Wed/Fri - so if you find you are benching your +3F, consider these teams to try and get more starts. If things don't look good, I'll often look to dump playmakers (assists), punt that category, and focus on gritty guys that supply G/SOG/PIM... at least that's three categories. Good luck. ps. I wouldn't do the first deal. Fleury to lose too many starts to Vokoun and PIT's defense isn't anything to write home about. pps. Second trade is actually kind of tempting. PAP is playing on a line with Duchene & Landeskog, could be nice stats. Giroux>N.Backstrom, especially as RW-elig & Semin has nice LW/RW flexibility. This would be a homerun if you could pull it off. It would go a long way in offsetting a good chunk of your team's overall injury risk without sacrificing any upside... in fact improving on the upside.

Just thought I'd revisit this.
Quote:
Dropped Baertschi for Boedker Trade 1 Out: Wheeler, Havlat In: Eriksson, Smyth Dropped Smyth for Brunner Dropped Smith for Kassian Callahan to IR, added Marcus Foligno Dropped Kulikov for Visnovsky Trade 2 Out: Roy, Kassian In: Pacioretty, Legwand Dropped Legwand to bring Callahan off IR Dropped Foligno for Tlusty (LOL) Trade 3 Out: Tarasenko, Plekanec In: Semin, Stastny New team: C: Backstrom, Benn (LW), Stastny, Carter (RW) LW: Parise, Hall, Pacioretty, Tlusty (C), Boedker RW: Semin (LW), Eriksson (LW), Brunner (C), Callahan, Voracek D: Green, Wideman, Visnovsky G: Quick, Bryzgalov, Varlamov Not too shabby IMO...I think if my goalies weren't choking so hard that my team would be pretty formidable. Right now I'm sitting in 5th place out of 12...10 points back from the leader. It's crazy how before the season started I had 3 multi-eligible players...right now I have 6. Thanks to the community for helping me out through al ot of these transactions. |

Hey, nice moves, Having a few of the same players as you (Benn, Hall, Carter, Havlat, Semin)
As a comparable, sitting in 5th I also dropped Havlat and picked up Brunner. Semin and Benn picks working out well, waiting for Hall to score a few more goals but he is getting the assists. Nice pick up on Brunner, Quick will turn it around. Expect Philly to start playing better soon. (Hopefully)
