I don't think there is anything that can save Whitney now. The current narrative in the EDM MSM is that he has a problem with his confidence.
The real problem is that he can no longer move laterally well enough to be able to skate at the basic level required to play in the NHL. Another team will take a chance on him at some point, but I suspect he's done. It's not his fault, he is just physically incapable of moving well enough.
