Marchand will not play Wednesday against the Canadiens because of an undisclosed injury, the Boston Globe reports. "We're going to keep our fingers crossed that he's in next game," coach Claude Julien said. "He's that close. It's a matter of days here. It's not as serious as most injuries, except that we're being extra cautious early on in the season."
Recommendation: Other reports have suggested that Marchand suffered a shoulder injury Saturday against Toronto, but either way the feisty forward is considered day-to-day. His absence will open the door for Ryan Spooner to make his NHL debut Wednesday.
