Default Brunner

@Nichols_NHLPool: Mike Babcock's lines: L1: Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Brunner. L2: Franzen-Filppula-Samuelsson. L3 Cleary-Helm-Bertuzzi. #DRW Via @AnsarKhanMLive

Just saw this tweet and got me curious as to what people thought of this. How does brunner fit in. Hes older, and playing really well with zetterberg over seas. How does he do in smaller rinks and north american style of the game. Do you think he flirts with 35+ points in a 48 game season??? Wanted to get peoples opinion.

No way does he get close to 35 points. Maybe 25, if he sticks with Dats and Zetts but there is no guarantee of that.

No Nyquist? I thought he was pretty much a lock.

according to Babcock via St. James, the lines will start out as follows:

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Brunner
Franzen-Filppula-Samuelsson
Cleary-Helm-Bertuzzi
Tootoo-Abdelkader-Nyquist/Miller/Mursak

Tentative defense pairings are:

Kronwall-Ericsson
Quincey-Smith
White-Kindl/CC

Dont forget hockey is basically made out of streaks.

The lines will shake down throughout the season and I think they'll get juggled a lot depending on who is hot.

Nyquist could easily take Brunner's spot 2 games deep in the season, and vice versa.

I'd draft the player you believe in more.

You guys are crazy. This is Brunner's to lose, especially with the way he and Z have been playing together overseas. Before they tore it up, back when Brunner was signed, it was said that he was Babcock's guy. If anything, Babcock's confidence has increased since the signing and his play with Z is why he's slotted on the first line with him.

Monkey wrenches. I was counting on a Tarasenko-Galchenyuk-Nyquist line to anchor my 3rd line on my dynasty team.

I'm not very high on Brunner before the start of the season, I'd have to see him do some damage before I get on the Brunner bandwagon.

I think 24 points in 48 games is a realistic number for him, maybe give or take a little.

Any chance Babcock is trying to motivate Nyquist?

In a 48 game season if Brunner nets 10 goals and 20 points I'd be thrilled. Really can't stress enough, temper your expectations with Brunner.
