If you have your choice of any goalie, my Top 3 in order are Lundqvist, Quick, and Rinne.

I'm just afraid that being a shortened season anyone can make a run at it. I can see the veteran goalies competing just as well as the younger guys.

You have to go with what history has shown us. Don't try and get " to cute" by guess work.

If your picking a goalie, and the best goalies are still available then I would pick them. However if your thinking of waiting until later to pick up a goalie, and allowing the big names to slip I think that could be a good idea. I would look into the goalies that are going to play in the majority of their team's games, as in a shortened season they are the guys that should put up the most points. But again if you plan on picking goalies early than the best goalies, are still the best goalies.

That being said, if it makes little difference I would pick the best goalie unless you have a different strategy. Sure, it's possible that other goalies might make a run in a shortened season but you'd be relying more on guesswork. Furthermore, asking us who to pick without context is vague since we don't know what strategy you use when drafting, and whether there is value. For example, if Lundqvist is the best, how much difference is there between him and the rest of the top 10? If you don't lose much by waiting, then it might be better to wait. But that depends on who else you'd draft, what gaps are there between top forwards and defencemen, etc.
