I think this is a start to open trade discussions but I think you will have to sweeten the the pot a little bit more.

This could work well for you.
AP's value is very high here on Dobberhockey.
AP's all over the place.
But, if the other owner doesn't read here, he might really consider your offer.
Not every GM value players the same way.
MaxPac had a breakout year last season and the other guy may pull the trigger on that one.
Good for you...

This is a good starting point for Pietrangelo, but I'd be very surprised if this offer is accepted.

You'd probably have to give up a veteran stud D plus MaxPac for Pietrangelo, if anything.

Thanks for all of your advice!

Eventually, we've now come down to Pietrangelo for likely JToews, Kopitar, Lucic, or something...not sure if I'd do it, might lose too much with those guys for what I gain...but I'm not sure...

Thoughts?? With FOW, Toews and Kopitar are even more valuable.

seems like replacement value of Lucic is better than replacement value of Toews...offered Lucic...see what he says.

I'd yank that deal back if you can. Lucic kicks the crap out of your scoring system, especially as a winger.

Ultimately you might just have to back off Pietrangelo. You have fairly good defensemen as is. Maybe a few wild cards but I suspect you can replace a lot of what Pietrangelo would offer you via the waiver wire. Lucic's across the board production, tough to replace. And don't get me wrong, Pietrangelo is a beast but I see moving Toews, Kopitar or Lucic as a sideways move and I'm always going to side with keeping a forward because they typically provide more consistent scoring.

I had already pulled it back, as he's asking for Toews or Kopitar now...now Lucic anymore...
I agree, sideways moves are tough...gaining very little.

BAsed on Pietrangelo's stats this past season:

If I dealt Toews, the replacement forward would be needing to make up 900 FOW, 16-ish PPP, 130-ish shots, plus a healthy +/-. and around 40 points.

Lucic, the replacement forward would need to make up tons of PIM (~130) and hits (~200), and about 32 points or so, plus a healthy +/-.

You're right, though, dmen are inconsistent. Although, what do you think of this, as another way to look at it?

Pietrangelo plus replacement forward (ie Stepan)
OR
Toews plus replacement dman (ie Faulk)
OR
Lucic plus replacement dman (ie Faulk)

Lucic is an absolute stud in a league like yours - I would definitely rescind the offer.

AP is flavour of the month right now - you will have to overpay for him and in most of the trades I've seen contemplated, he's not worth the risk considering he's only put up one impressive season and may easily regress.

He's really not that special in your format... I bet guys like Seabrook and Girardi are more valuable than him once you tally up the points and I'm sure they can be had for much cheaper. Don't over-reach.

Appreciate the quick advice. I think I might just pull back...it went from being Pacioretty + to this very quickly and I'm not fond of it.

oh, one last thing...Chara was offered to me for Kopitar...I think it's reaching also.

out of curiosity, who WOULD you deal off my roster for Pietrangelo? Pacioretty+Stepan or Granlund already didn't work....

thoughts? I think it may just be a stalemate.
