Coyle is a possibility. Lazar in the upcoming draft.

Thing is, these players are hard to predict. Teams basically draft big physical guys and hope the offense comes together. Secondly, a lot of time these players take a while to put it together.

Hartnell didn't clear 20 goals until his 5th year in the NHL and has only hit the 30G/60 point mark twice in his career.

Lucic put up 19 points in his draft year and just happened to have a huge breakout the following year. Bruins took a big gamble and it paid off. Even then it wasn't until his 4th year that he broke out as a legitimate scorer.

Likewise, Backes didn't break out until his 3rd year in the NHL (6 years after being drafted) and has only cleared the 30 goal mark twice.

Landeskog is pretty much already there, but he's not really a prospect anymore.
I think the bigger issue is that the 30 goal mark is rare these days. I think we should be happy with 20+ goals and 50 points from the traditional power forwards.

Yeah, when I took the 30+ goal thing into account I didn't think of anyone that could realistically get to that level. To me it's more about looking for 100+ PIM, 150+ hit guys that are the top scorers in that category group.

That's true and fair point but the purpose of this thread is to find out the best of the best, the next elite power forward. Nothing wrong with 20+ goal and 50 point multi-cat studs but looking for the players with the extra gear and ability to put together a David Backes type of season. I mean even the best season from Backes is a long way from the days of Keith Tkachuk, Brendan Shanahan, Rick Tocchet (these guys put together 50 goals, PPG and 200+ PIM seasons) etc. so expectations have already been considerably lowered.

Elite power forwards have always been good goal scorers so looking for someone with the ability to put together 30+ goals isn't too much to ask even in these days IMO. That's what it takes to be considered an elite power forward.

If you're looking for someone to score 30+G, 50+P, 100+PIM, 150+Hits... I'm going to go with no one.

Coyle doesn't put up that many PIM and it's too early to know what his hitting game will be like. 30G could be a stretch too.

Thing is, most of these players only show moderate offensive capabilites when drafted and their offense just blossoms over time. There's not too many prospects out there that are putting up point per game in the juniors and over a PIM per game.

No one isn't an acceptable answer Someone will put those numbers eventually so looking for THAT guy. Obviously it's a hard to identify those players as guys like Backes and Lucic were late bloomers and surprised us all with their offensive numbers. But since this about prospects, the key word is potential, and I'm sure there's some guys to find with potential to put up those kind of elite power forward numbers.

Well that's quite the long-shot but there's definitely some interesting upside there. Like with all prospects the hitting part is hard to project if you haven't seen the player actually play regularly, so not sure if he's got that part in his game. But as an owner, I definitely welcome this suggestion.

I know he's a long shot but based on his college stats he is goal-heavy and gets some PIM. If he catches fire his stats could fall in line with your criteria.

Well it's hard to predict those kind of guys

Like Tom Wilson and Mitch Moroz could technically become that. Or they may never crack the NHL or may be 4th liners. Both their offensive games have a long way to go.

Already mentioned him, but I like Curtis Lazar to be a candidate next year.
