"Jays close to deal with maicer izturis"

Heyman just tweeted this. Basically confirming his report from earlier.

Izturis to the Jays is done.

10M for 3 yrs plus club option.

Solid signing for the Jays. Gives them flexibility while they allow Hechevarria to blossom in AAA. I would have only given him 2 years but hey, whatever works.

-R.A. Dickey's name is coming up in trade talks, because the team is not willing to give him a multi-year deal.

-Texas acquired reliever Tommy Hottovy from Kansas City for a player to be named later or cash considerations

-The Red Sox are interested in free agents Anibal Sanchez and Huroki Kuroda, Boston has reached out to both of them.

-Arizona will not acquire Jurickson Profar or Elvis Andrus in exchange for Upton, as the Rangers aren't willing to part with the two young shortstops. Meanwhile, Detroit is doing a background check on Upton before deciding whether to go after him or not. The Tigers can offer up top prospect Nick Castellanos should they choose to pursue Upton. Tampa Bay is also interested, among other teams.

-Rafael Soriano, Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher declined their respective teams qualifying offers today.

-Alex Anthopoulos is said to be interested in Anibal Sanchez, noting that a five-year contract, paying around $90 million is pretty fair value for him. More from Shi David on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ShiDavidi/status/266985718138667008

-B.J. Upton declined Tampa Bay's qualifying offer today, as expected.

-The Nationals have agreed to extend manager Davey Johnson's contract.

-Michael Bourn is receiving interest from many teams, including the Nationals, Phillies, Reds and Red Sox.

-Some team has won the bid for Korean pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu and he didn't come cheap, Jon Heyman of CBS reports that the winning bid was $25,737,737.33. It is not known which team secured his services as of yet.

Looks like the dodgers won the right to negotiate with him. They are not shy about spending money!

Now they have a month to deal with super agent Scott Boras, what a pleasure that will be.

Besides the Dodgers winning the right to negotiate with Korean pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, here's what else is going on.

-After the Red Sox signed catcher David Ross to a two-year contract, the media is speculation Boston will make Jarrod Saltalammachia available in trade talks to address weaknesses on the team. Boston is showing interest in Mike Napoli as well, but he would play first base should he sign with them.

-If Texas is unwilling to trade either Jurickson Profar or Elvis Andrus, the Rays could scoop up Justin Upton for either James Shields or Jeremy Hellickson plus shortstop prospect Hak-Ju Lee.

-At least five clubs are interested in Melky Cabrera's services, possibly more. The outfielder is likely going to get a small contract for what he can bring to a team and many teams want to be that team that signed the small contract which paid off in spades.

-After reports that Andre Ethier may be available for the right price, it seems as though the Dodgers are happy with him. If Torii Hunter were to sign with them, he would have to play in a lesser role due to Ethier needing everyday at bats.

-Several baseball experts believe Dan Haren will sign with the Padres as he grew up on the west coast and would like to pitch close to home.

-Philadelphia is going after Michael Bourn and B.J. Upton is their backup plan should they miss on Bourn.

-An update on the Blue Jays managerial search: http://www.torontosun.com/2012/11/08...ays-gm-rumours
