2. Skills - While Rundblad is a silky smooth offensive player, there were a handful of times last year where Elliott showed ELITE offensive play (not good, but elite). Neither player were capable of holding a full-time job in the NHL last year but Elliott showed flashes of brilliance.

3. Shooting - Elliott has an amazing wrist shot and loves to join the rush with speed and fire the biscuit. Rundblad reminds me more of a Tomas Kaberle type who excels at the transition game and loves to pass.
I agree with everything FC said here.

Elliott>Rundblad.

Elliott will have a chance to showcase his offensive skill set before Rundy

Rundblad
2012-13 Portland Pirates AHL 7 0 7 7 0 -3

Elliott
2012-13 Lake Erie Monsters AHL 7 0 0 0 4 -4

I still think Elliott is the better pick for the future, but he won't be as quickly ready as many people think. He's going to take time.

Not to add another post to this thread...

But based on league equivalencies, Rundblad straight up dominated Elliott. And he's proving how much better offensively he is by posting a stat line that makes Elliott look like a bum by comparison in the same league.

Pretty much a slam dunk for Rundblad IMO. Only reason I can see taking Elliott is if you want to go for the safest bet possible.

Last year in the AHL:

Elliott,S.: 30games, 5G, 9A, 14pts, +5, 68 SOG
Rundblad: 30games, 7G, 9A, 16pts, -18, 67 SOG

There are definitely some "equivalencies" there... not sure I see the "dominated" parts... unless you are referring to Elliott's dominance over Rundblad in +/-.

Well for starters, the equivalencies I was referring to was Quality of Competition in SEL (Rundblad's 2010-11 season) vs. the WHL (Elliott's 2010-11 season).

And I'm sure that had absolutely nothing to do with it being Rundblad's first season in North America...

Plus I was referring to this year:

Elliott has 0 points and is -4 in 7 GP.
Rundblad has 7 points and is -3 in 7 GP.

Both play for similiar caliber teams. Small sample perhaps but pretty stark difference.
