Derek Roy will not be available until November after undergoing shoulder surgery.
"He played through it before and he could have played through it again, but we want the best Derek Roy we can get," Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk said. "It was a group decision, and we felt this was the best decision." The Stars acquired Roy a week ago from the Buffalo Sabres for Steve Ott and Adam Pardy. The fact that he'll be forced spend the summer and early portion of the season recovering makes us far less optimistic about his chances of bouncing back from a disappointing 2011-12 campaign. He had 17 goals and 44 points in 80 games last season.
