Yeah it's hard to do this with a timeline of a few years, especially not accounting for trades or UFA signings. It's a decent start though.

Some things I would consider:

Cullen and PMB will be UFAs after next season and I am not sure if either will be back. Just no room for Cullen anymore unless he wants to play minimal minutes and take a much cheaper contract. PMB depends on health, I could see him back but it depends a lot on the amount of money. Also, from what I hear (mainly Russo and Hockey Wilderness Blog) Lats will not be qualified but then he will be re-signed on a cheaper contract.

I think some of the Wild's prospects and/or current forwards on the roster will be used in a trade to upgrade our defense if they can't sign anyone. Also, it seems the Wild will have flexibility when it comes to who can play center which could change things around.

That's what I was thinking. I asked Russo on twitter and he thinks Granlund would go #1 overall, didn't get any reasoning behind it though. The majority of people at Hockey Wilderness believe he would go #1 overall as well. I just don't see it though, I think they are a little bias at the moment.

Yea, I wasn't sure about Cullen and PMB. Mainly left PMB because didn't think Larsson would be ready for a top 6 spot. Could easily slide Powe to 4th line C and put Bulmer in 4th line RW if Cullen is gone.

Wasn't sure what the deal with Latendresse was.

Good to hear some Minny perspective.

Yea... I'm a huge Granlund fan but can't come up with a single reason why he would go ahead of Yakupov. I'm not even sure if he'd go #2 if it wasn't CBJ drafting in that slot.

You can make the case that Granlund is more NHL-ready... but Yakupov isn't going to have any issues stepping right in. And there's no denying Yakupov has higher upside.

If I had the 1st overall I would take Granlund over Yakupov. Granlund is a center, doesn't have a concussion history (atleast that I'm aware of) and he's not Russian. He's also older.

I know you were not aware of it, but Granlund has a concussion history as well. As far as Granlund being older, I would think that would be in favor of Yakupov going 1st overall.

A very significant concussion history at that (Granlund does). Yakupov would absolutely go #1 in my view.

Yes, I know. I was responding to letangerang58 who said take Granlund because he doesn't have concussion problems.

Granlund has had several concussions.

Yakupov >>> Granlund, and I'm a huge fan of Granlund.
