Sounds eerily like my Friday morning drunk last week.

Lol...and a correction, if I may. Instead of "strive" I would instead say "pretend". 'Strive' gives them too much credit. Implies goal oriented behavior.

Not sure how many people have access to Trader Joe's stores, but I grabbed a 750 mL of their Vintage Ale because it was only $5. Turned out I loved it - one of the best value beers I've run into in a while. It's a strong ale style, and it's made by Unibroue. I will be going back and getting more.

I think I need to cut back on my beer expenditure... Not sure I can keep justifying spending like $10 for a bottle anymore (though maybe I'll fall in love with 8wired haha). Also going to try to avoid the 750ml bottles as they usually sit in my fridge for a while before I find occassion to drink them.
I think I'm going to stick to slighly more affordable 6 packs for the next while... Probably grab a 6 pack of Paddock Wood Loki, see if I can dig up Maudite or Trois Pistoles in a 6 pack, etc. Of course I may change my mind by tomorrow :P |

So the wife picked up a 24 pack from Costco of Sam Adam's Winter Classic set. So far I've tried Old Fezzigwig's Ale, which I rather liked. Looking forward to trying the rest and feeling a little more holiday-ish this year.
Oh and have a drink for me as we are surprised to find out that we are pregnant.

Congrats, tgraveline! Awesome ride ahead, buddy.
My dark-as-night hop-bomb, Mount Crumpit Cascadian Dark Ale*, gets bottled this weekend. The wort was incredible, the sample on transfer to the secondary was also great. Really looking forward to this baby, and will try and find a commercial reference of a similar style so you cats can taste the goodness. Next up will be an IPA, hopefully aimed at tropical fruit character in the malt to go with the hoptasticness. I'm thinking Williamette and Citra hops to balance the Cascade/Centennial/Columbus and a more british-style yeast to give the fruit flavours. It'll likely land somewhere between Red Racer IPA and Pliny the Elder based on clone recipes for those and what I'll be putting in this one. Very excited about it. * props to anyone who gets the reference without Mr Google. |
