Funny, I was just looking at the website for a local beer store and there it is on the new arrivals!

I much prefered the Spinnakers version over the Phillips one, so why not give Deschutes a whirl?

Looks very helpful, thanks. Thinking maybe USPS might be the slower but more reliable and less costly way to go.

Does one ever finish drinking? More of a pause in between really.

Hey Boys,

I've been doing some research on trading and shipping beer on Beer advocate this am. I found this great link:

http://alewatcher.blogspot.ca/2010/1...-tips.html?m=1

I'm looking more into this today, and although it sounds quite expensive (shipping costs) it's definitely a feasible way to share great beer between friends who can't otherwise access it. I'd be willing to give it a go.....in fact Maya and I are already chatting about the possibilities of some Gumballhead.

Seems FedEx or canadapost/USPS are the way to go.

If all goes well when me and Bomm swap, I'd be open to swapping with others if interested and if I've got access to something you don't.

Maya the knife and I are getting a trade rolling as well. Let's share details about packaging/costs etc.

If this works, I'd be thrilled to try some other trades out with you guys too....I've got an unlimited supply of Red Racer Dyz......

Ack, don't taunt me. I don't even want to describe how much I miss that stuff. It might be my favorite IPA.

Though I imagine you have access to most everything I do.

True, but I'm sure we can work something out. Can you and Bomm keep us posted on your trade? I'm leery of sending thru the mail, but I really want to give it a go, and Canada Post seems the cheapest route. That website you guys posted though mentioned we needed to include something with the package?

Anyone here have any experiences they could share?

Yea for sure.

The thing inside the package is just an extra measure... If they open it up its probably getting seized so kind of futile IMO but if you do a box within a box it could make a difference.

Don't have experience with shipping beer but I do buy/sell over $10k of paintball gear (something else which isn't always easy getting across the border) every year, primarily us-Canada transactions and have never had any issues as long as you make sure to do a few things.

1) pack well (obviously)
2) don't declare exactly what you're shipping (even more obvious with beer)
3) stay the hell away from ups
4) mark items as a gift - sometimes can help to enclose a card of some sort. Cuts down on custom fees and I've found they are less likely to be flagged.

So true... I live by these rules in my mail-order bride business.
