Default 3/19/12 Studs & Duds

A Full docket of games for a Monday and huge off ice news, here are your fantasy Studs and Duds

Studs

Preds make a "Rad" move
Alexander Radulov announced his intentions to return for the final 10 games of the season to fulfill his contract with the NHL, and play for a shot at the Stanley Cup. The Preds move from a legit "dark-horse" contender, to a legit Stanley Cup contender.

As a matter of Stat, these guys had a great night!
Monday night proved to be a good night for the players if you own them.
Brian Rolston, Boston 1 goal, 3 assists, 4 points, +/- plus 4
Benoit Pouliot, Boston 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 points, +/- plus 3
Drew Stafford, Buffalo 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, +/- plus 1, 5 shots on goal
Ryan Clowe, San Jose 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, +/- plus 1, 2 shots on goal
Bobby Ryan, Anaheim 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points +/- plus 3 6 shots on goal
Nick Bonino, Anaheim 3 assists, 3 points +/- plus 3 2 shots on goal

Last weeks three Stars
Two goalies that have struggled for most of this season are Ilya Bryzgalov, and Corey Crawford and they are getting their game together at the most critical time; just before the playoffs. Can they maintain it?
First Star: Ilya Bryzgalov, Philadelphia 3-0-1, 1.44GAA, .950 save%
Second Star: Corey Crawford, Chicago 3-0-0, 1.09 GAA, .948 save%
Third Star: Martin Erat, Nashville two goals, five assists

Honorable Mention
Josh Harding made 33 saves to record a shut out, and Tim Thomas only needed to make 13 saves for his shut out.
Alex Ovechkin scored two goals

Duds

Leafs Suck!
The Ottawa Senator fans favorite rally cry has never been more accurate than right now. Last nights annihilation at the hands of the Bruins was a disgrace! This season the Bruins have outscored the Leafs 36-10. The Leafs really looked either like they were going for a better draft pick, or are boys playing against men. The Bruins fans were raining down "Thank you Kessel" chants as their team beat down the sad, lowly Leafs.
Is this rock bottom for the Leafs? The night is always darkest just before the dawn. Will the sun begin to rise on the Leafs next season, or is the worst yet to come?

Sharks can't bite into Division lead
The Sharks played division and State rival Anaheim last night, and a win would have catapulted them into third in the Western Conference with the division lead. The Anaheim Ducks are in last place in the division, and with ten games left in the regular season that was a must win game. Instead, Anaheim wins 5-3 and the Sharks looked indifferent. "The lack of energy and jump that we had as a team was baffling," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "It really is. When we're supposed to be as desperate as we are apparently. I can't figure out why we didn't have that jump. Some nights when you don't have it you have to rely on your hockey sense and your brain to put you in position to be successful. We didn't have that going either."

Crippling Injuries
Detroit's Darren Helm, and Philadelphia's Andre Meszaros will both miss significant time. The loss of those players will be hard felt once the playoffs begin. Helm will miss four to six weeks with a sprained MCL. Helm is precisely the type of player Detroit will need to handle smashvilles energy. Meszaros had back surgery and will miss at least the first two rounds. His absence will compound the fact that team Captain Chris Pronger is also out.

Also a shout-out to those who own Rangers/Devils fighters for PIM leagues. Three fights broke out at the three-second mark for a total of 40 PIM from that exchange.
