Ryan O'Reilly and Metallurg have decided to part ways. The KHL transfer window comes up on Jan. 31st and with O'Reilly nursing a minor injury and he wasn't going to play and make it worse in the next week. The other reason given by the Metallurg website cites ongoing contract negotiations with the Avalanche.

Everyone had been speculating that Downie's injury was going to force the Avs to sweeten the deal a little in getting O'Reilly back to Colorado and hopefully this move is the beginning of a successful process (f*ck I hate that word after the lockout...).
