You're right. I was just more lenient on offense accepting 1 category (30 or 50). With the low offense these days, breaking all 4 thresholds is extremely difficult.

i think you are quoting wrong post. I said 20 tops & not consistantly

I was referring to your Foligno comment, who you said will score 30 but not consistently. I think 30 is a huge reach for him to be honest.

Another vote for Henrik Samuelsson.
He is currently scoring at a point per game pace and his pro-rated PIM's is 127. IF people didn't already know this is Henrik's daddy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZH-hrCOuLo Henrik is showing some offensive promise and has shown a tendency for some crazy penalties. It appears as though he may have a decent future as a power forward. |

It definitely doesn't have to be a big player, but rather a guy that provides the right stats. Darcy Tucker was tiny but had a season of 28 G, 33 A, 100 PIM and 127 hits. Unfortunately the same player would probably produce 20 goals and 45 points today.
Given how tough it is to meet the criteria and how long it takes for true power forwards to develop, I don't know if anyone can accurately identify the next guy. If you have waiver wire access it may be best to go fishing for slightly older players that are catching fire. For example, I think the likes of Welsh, Budish and Ferland (all recent acquisitions in UHL) have better odds than your typical 18 year old long-shot big man and you will wait less time for an answer.

Stefan Noesen should also be considered. Nice upside for all these categories.

I was waiting for Noesen's name to be brought up too. Definitely an interesting prospect with good upside.

Any love for Jeremy Morin? Not sure if he's exactly a power forward but he's always taken a high PIM totals and is very good goal scorer. So the goals and points upsides are definitely there and so seems to be the PIM upside. Has also gotten over a hit per game in the games he's played in NHL so far.

Quote:
Powerplay minutes tend to be what seperate the 25g/50pt power forwards (Hartnell, Perry, Lucic, Backes, Simmonds, Clowe...) from the energy guys.

Definitely, and PPP is one of the most common roto stats so in that case the power forwards become even more valuable.
