Yes. Media are idiots. Most of the time, when crap like that comes out, it means they have nothing to talk about.....In fact, in general they are always starving for any tidbit of controversy or always trying to stir crap up for no reason. Even Granlund's awesome goal yesterday. 6 vids and 2 articles on TSN's page about the goal and "ooh, was it awesome or show-boating?...what will the old school guys think? The "kids" think it's sick and cool!....." Holy shit man they are retarded. They annoy me more and more. So stupid....bah! lol Ok I need beer.
Hey thanks man. It's something that really drives me nuts. How the heck is conference finals choking?...So the Nucks or the Sharks HAVE to win the cup every year or what?.....idiot anlaysts/reporters/pundits......idiots....
I agree with you that Kovalchuk would garner more in a trade, just from name value alone.
If you think you can re-draft Giroux I think he would very a very early pick in a re-draft....depending on the amount of keepers ofcourse.
I recently joined a new keeper league just a couple weeks ago, had the 4th pick and the 15th pick (9 man pool)...and picked Backstrom and Giroux with my two picks...and Kovalchuk was still on the board...pretty confident with Giroux.....everytime i see him play he amazes me with something....mostly his vision and hockey sense.
Another thing to consider....If NJ lock up Parise long term that would be a lot of money to spend on two LW`s, who will only play together on the PP. And with Zajac already having a bit of chemistry with Parise, how much money will that leave NJ to find some linemates for Kovalchuk...
Giroux is locked into a nice 3 year contract I think with Philly and he will always have players to feed the puck...
If Giroux ended up with over 80 points next year, would that surprise you....i don`t think so.
I could def see him hitting 100 points multiple times in his career.
Im not going to down play Kovalchuk, because I think he is a tremendous player that can create chances on his own. Hell, he`s been doing it for years in Atlanta. But everytime I watch Giroux he brings that same level of skill to the ice and will use his linemates better.
Giroux is so smart out there, reads the game well, and has such great vision. He has the ability to beat you one on one, slow the game down, and create space for his linemates.
I really feel like Giroux is the type of player that will make everyone around him a better. Even if Philly wasn`t so stacked, I wouldn`t worry Girouxs production. Actually, since they are so stacked its not giving Giroux the ice time he can already handle. The team will eventually lose some of its forwards, and Giroux will really shine through.
I really think he could outpoint Kovalchuk starting next year.
