Kostka clearly is loved by Caryle. And what impressed me the most he continues to play an all around game as he did with the Marlies. Quote:
Lets not get too excited yet. Its still early anything can happen(Gardiners return etc....). Caryle is obviously taking advantage of his GP(in shape) in AHL this season to get off to a better start. |

While still a small sample size, just wondering if folks are becoming more comfortable with Kostka?
Not sure if it's appropriate to pile an add/drop question into the Kostka thread so I apologize in advance if it's not, but I'm thinking of adding Kostka to my lineup for this week given that I'm still unsure of Seidenberg's status. We only do weekly lineup changes -- on Thursdays -- and was really hoping Seidenberg would play last night so I wouldn't be dealing with a questionable tag heading into Boston's game on Friday (he's mainly on my roster to bolster my blocked shots and hopefully chip in a decent +/-, but I don't want to lose the man games if he were to miss more time). For what it's worth, I saw that Kostka still logged big TOI last night even though Gardiner returned to the lineup, as well as the second most PP time, a few seconds behind Phaneuf and 2 and 3 minutes more than Liles and Gardiner, respectively. Maybe Gardiner is being eased back in following his concussion, or maybe Kostka has carved out a sizeable role for himself regardless. In any event anyone think Kostka over Seidenberg is worth the gamble?

I think you lose out on the peripherals liked Hits and Blocked shots if you go with Kostka but I must say he has looked very comfortable so far. He is getting first unit PP time on the point with Phaneuf and is very patient with the puck on his stick, doesnt seem to get flustered easily. His puck movement and skating is much better than Phaneufs so he makes a nice compliment to him.

Yeah i would look the positives. Sure hes going to make mistakes and get outmuscled from time to time as he adjusts to the NHL game. For the most part though he's been very solid.

3 points and -7 after 5 games. I like his game but as an underdog he needs to improve the minus rating if he is going to stick long-term. Not saying anything against the guy as I think he has been solid but we've see many instances where anything negative about an underdog player will be held against him.
