The DobberBaseball Fantasy Guide is out now and fully updated

*

Don't forget to pick your team for tonight's Draft Street contest - it takes two minutes and your odds of winning $100 are 1/300 (give or take) - and that's just if you were in a random draw! Since this actually takes some skill, your odds will actually be better than that (assuming you know your stuff).

*

Ho hum, another day, another come-from -behind Chicago win.

Chicago has played half of the regular season games now. Nobody has beat them in regulation.

Their time may finally come though - both Patrick Sharp (possibly shoulder) and Andrew Shaw left last night's game. Marian Hossa didn't even get into the game as he was sidelined with an upper-body injury.

*

Brandon Saad has six points in his last five games. His ice time is inching up as well, reaching 21:57 last night (due to the above injuries, but still).

*

Mats Zuccarello's KHL team is now out of the playoffs - and the Rangers have stepped up their efforts to bring him back. I wouldn't drop anyone significant for him, but if I had a wasted roster spot I would prefer to fill it with Zuccarello and see what happens.

*

Pierre Lebrun digs into some trade rumors here, including Jarome Iginla, Daniel Alfredsson and Corey Perry.

*

After the Blues blew a 4-1 lead halfway through the last game (lost 6-4), they called up Jake Allen from the minors. Apparently they will go with three goaltenders for the time being. Frankly, I think Brian Elliott will be moved, and soon. But whoever gets him, will be disappointed.

*

If the Florida Panthers start winning hockey games with Jacob Markstrom behind them… then Vancouver GM Mike Gillis will have lost the gamble. He'll have blown the Roberto Luongo deal. He tried to swing for the fences, and good on him. But he whiffed. Not that Luongo was going anywhere anyway, since Eddie Lack is out. But in the offseason, will Florida bother with Luongo if Markstrom was their savior? Would the Leafs bother with him if they continue the way things are and finish sixth in the NHL? Will the Blackhawks go for Luongo if they have a 40-0-8 season as it seems like? The answer is no, and there is no other option out there. And if Gillis wants to move Luongo, it will need to be much cheaper than he was hoping for.

*

Injury updates on some Red Wings - Filppula and Colaiacovo will be out for the weekend, Darren Helm is back skating - Helm and Samuelsson are at least two weeks away.

*

There is no solid update on Marc Staal, other than to say his injury is not career threatening. The Rangers claimed Roman Hamrlik off of waivers and I think Hamrlik is worth grabbing off the wire if your depth D spot really sucks - but again, I wouldn't replace a mediocre player with him.

New Jersey claimed Tom Kostopoulos off of waivers from the Penguins, who tried to sneak him up from their farm team.

*

Miikka Kiprusoff has been activated off the IR and Danny Taylor has been sent down. Kipper stopped 32 of 33 shots for the win.

*

Revamped Nashville line combinations, with their new additions:

Boychuk - Fisher - Hornqvist

Erat - Smith - Butler

And then their top PP unit will be: Butler, Fisher, Wilson, Kostitsyn and Weber. And if I can just comment - awesome. It's about time Trotz matched up players to their strengths. It seemed like he hasn't done that in about a month.

*

Ville Leino is set to make his season debut Sunday. Quickly now - keep him out of your lineup!

*

Cal Clutterbuck is back in practice for the Wild.

*

This one gave Dave Dziurzynsky a concussion, knocked him out:

Stompin' Tom Connors - RIP

streak astersisk The Western has beaten up on the East in interconference matchups since 05-06, including last year. Any astersisk doesn't hold much water, unless one wants to argue the obverse of your point BD.

Kudos Thanks for keeping us up to date on the Zuccarello situation. I'd almost forgotten about him but I'm giving him one more kick at the can. The Rangers have been silly not to give this guy more of a chance.

Completely agree with you on the Luongo situation. I'm really starting to wonder if moving Schneider might be their better option at this point.

... How can the Blackhawks skate went they've all got horseshoes crammed up their derrieres. If they had to play Eastern conference teams, there wouldn't be a streak. There should be a asterix next to this season, regardless if this streak continues or ends in Colorado, as they only played half the league. They'll be eliminated in the 1st round of the playoffs.

... Haha, Tom Connors is the only person who can make the Leafs win the Stanley Cup. Even if it is just in a song.
