My year in review post for the CanucksArmy is up - a look at Bure, the Kassian trade, and more.

Sharks goaltender Alex Stalock had a great game yesterday in the AHL for Worchester.

Despite a solid outing from goaltender Alex Stalock, who made 25 saves, the Worcester Sharks were defeated 2-1 by the Manchester Monarchs on boxing day Wednesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. James Livingston had the lone goal for the Sharks, who fell to fourth place in the Atlantic Division and now trail the division leading Portland Pirates by three points.

The top 10 jersey fouls of the year from Puck Daddy.

Malcolm Subban is going to be the guy that Canada runs with in between the pipes... for now.

"I feel like making those saves obviously helps a lot and making them a little fancy gives the team a little confidence," Subban said. "Just knowing your coaches have the confidence in you, that you're going to play all the games, that helps a lot obviously as well."

Mason Raymond has signed with the second division in Sweden. He is the fourth Canuck to sign overseas, joining Cory Schneider, Dale Weise, and Jannik Hansen (although I may be missing one).

*

Ducks prospect Peter Holland is eyeing an NHL roster spot with Anaheim. He is currently playing with Norfolk of the AHL. Thanks to his strong play this season, Holland probably has the inside track over Anaheim's other skilled young forwards.

Holland has been Norfolk's leading scorer through the first third of the AHL season, pacing the Admirals in goals (11), assists (16) and points (27). The Toronto-born center also has been arguably the team's most consistent player, certainly on the offensive end.

A good read on the development of Ryan Johansen in the AHL this season.

“I feel like I got lucky being here (during the lockout). It’s given me a chance to play and learn and grow. I’m not saying I don’t care if the lockout ends, but I’m having a great time here.”

I caught some of the Marlies/Bulldogs game yesterday. Nazem Kadri had a great game, but he left with “headaches” after taking a dirty hit from Zach Stortini.

*

Matt Frattin had three helpers for the Marlies, and was arguably their best forward. He also had five shots on goal.

Montreal prospect Nathan Beaulieu looked great – he scored one of Hamilton’s goals and showed off his terrific skating all night.

*

Rangers prospect Marek Hrivik had a goal and an assist for Connecticut last night.

Nino Niederreiter scored twice last night and continues his strong play in the AHL this season.

It is amazing what a little confidence can do.

*

Braden Holtby had a 33 save shutout for Hershey. Holtby continues his strong play this season.

*

Corey Conacher had three points and five shots on goal for Syracuse last night.

*

Jakob Silfverberg had a goal and an assist yesterday as well. He’s a lock to be playing with the Senators when the lockout ends.

*

Early reports are saying that Backstrom only has a bruised neck:

So... Patrick Kane... decent hands?
