Lockout Update: Day 11 - There is still a lockout. * Fantasy Guide - The guide will be updated…this morning - really just a couple of notes. * We have decided to delay Dobber Nation by a month. A combination of readiness (lack of) and content (lack of) * In case you didn't catch this in the Lockout Player Tracker, Dan Ellis has signed (a tryout) with Charlotte of the AHL. This is a team that will already have Justin Peters on it, thanks to the lockout. This team was looking pretty rough between the pipes, with a couple of netminders I had never heard of prior to these developments. * "We're 100 percent focused on not missing any regular-season games, and hopefully we can achieve that objective," said Bill Daly Monday. I'm gonna go ahead and say that it's a tad under 100 percent focused. The NHL and NHLPA will meet Friday - apparently Thursday nor Wednesday will fit in with either of their schedules. Gotta love the sense of urgency. But at least they'll finally be talking about the core economic issues that separate their stances. Wait, what? * Vancouver Canucks have hired Dan Cloutier to be their goaltending consultant. That joke writes itself, doesn't it? That's like the Leafs hiring Jason Allison to be their speed-skating advisor. * Hey, Mike Ribeiro thinks they could "have December with (NHL) hockey". Hey, Dan Cleary thinks they could "go a year, maybe longer". Yeah, stop asking players to predict this. * Brendan Ross with some fresh prospects ramblings right here from last night. He speaks of Mark Scheifele, Malcolm Subban, John Gibson, Connor McDavid and more… * So Vladimir Tarasenko is going to this old SKA St. Petersburg team (KHL) after all. So that little glitch in the negotiations I noted yesterday was just a hiccup. * Interesting, and a nice gesture - Alexander Semin will play in the second-tier Russian league for his former team - for free. * Some more signings - Pekka Rinne to the KHL (Dinamo Minsk) and Patric Hornqvist to Sweden. * An economist projects a loss of $84.4 million for the city of Detroit if the Red Wings miss the season. Now calculate that for 29 other teams. And all that money lost is pretty much recovered (as best they can) by cutting the salary and the jobs of average Joe's. * Rick Nash hat trick…
Alex Galchenyuk on a shootout. Nothing spectacular, but just good to have hockey back:

Canucks Well, Cloutier isn't what the arm chair guys expected. Vancouver management hasn't been guilty of too many poor decisions in recent years though. Not every NHL coach was a standout player. |
