DobberProspects has, fingers crossed, been cleaned up. I imagine/ hope that Google reviews it early this morning and gives it a clean bill of health. No more "warnings". Finally, after five days. Update: Google has cleared the site as clean.

My Hockey News column -  the offseason look for Chicago and Carolina.

*

To explain my Dustin Brown pick as a breakout player yesterday - "breakout" may be a strong word, but he has posted 54, 57, 56 and 53 points over the last four seasons. This season, I really feel like 65 points is almost a done deal. So when I was racking my brain for a third player to list - his name would not get out of my head. So finally I gave up and put him on there. Besides his 20 points in 20 playoff games, he ended the season with 25 points in 23 games - so 45 points in his last 43 games.

If you have a good 20 minutes or more, check out this blog by Bob McKenzie. He lays it out pretty nicely, when it comes to the CBA situation. He certainly puts things into perspective very well, and is bound to soften your stance regarding the owners - if only a little. Your stance on the players, I'm guessing, didn't need any softening.

*

The NHL and NHLPA will meet today. Lockout starts Saturday night, then they have nearly four weeks before the season begins. I think that when a CBA is struck, the NHL will go with two weeks of training camp almost immediately.

*

Florida defenseman Erik Gudbranson injured his shoulder this week while training. The injury is described as "bad" and he is looking at a four month recovery time. This could seriously hinder his ability to flip through pages of various CBA offers - he may have to hire an assistant page flipper.

*

Not to worry Gudbranson owners, you can all breathe a sigh of relief - his surgery was successful.

*

Justin Goldman shares his - always in-depth - thoughts on Anders Lindback here. If you were a School of Block fan, then you'll love this.

*

Here's a flattering piece on Devan Dubnyk - if you just take his second half numbers, his save percentage would rank him fifth in the league last year. He started 70% of the games in the second half, which bodes extremely well for Dubnyk owners in the partial season ahead.

*

Interesting stat from Puck Daddy - Nashville's PK was 83.6%, but it was 89.3% when Hal Gill was in the lineup.

*

Daniel Alfredsson says he would consider retirement if this season were cancelled.

*

The Rangers have re-signed Steve Eminger to a one year deal.  He took a $50,000 paycut.

In other Rangers news, Michael Sauer (concussion) is still not responding well. John Tortorella said "I don't think you'll see Michael…I do not think you'll see him at the beginning of the season." That same article give a Michael Del Zotto update - the Rangers are not budging on their offer and that MDZ will "come to his senses".

Prediction: Del Zotto won't be skating in an NHL hockey game in October. I know, I know - I really went out on a limb there.

*

So whatever happened to the "other" Staal - Jared? This. Interesting write-up. The knock on him has been commitment, but over the past year it seems to me that his commitment level has ramped up.

 *

Michal Rozsival has signed with the Blackhawks. On that team, I don't see any kind of rebound year for him, and his days of 30 points are looong gone.

... Not surprised at the Gill stat. I watched a lot of MTL games and he was useless everywhere else but on the PK, he doesn't have to move much with that rediculous reach playing a passive box. Does he ever get exposed on the rush though, he got beat consistently on the outside.

... It's tough to find the "site announcements" section. I don't know why this isn't visible when I click on the "Forum" button above. I also wish there was a Dobber Hockey logo somewhere on the forum so I could get back to the main page. The banner links to Dobber Sports, and none of the titles for the various sites on that page are clickable. I'm sure some web designer found it easy to navigate, but for us creatures of habit, a couple of tweaks would make my browsing experience more enjoyable smilies/smiley.gif.
