Fantasy Impact: The Winnipeg Jets have signed center Olli Jokinen to a two-year deal at $4.5 million per season.

The Jets get: a former No.1 center who has turned things around in Calgary to become a very serviceable No.2 center or a "1B" type. His production has increased two consecutive years (54 points, 61 points).

Fantasy Players Impacted: Jokinen found a pretty good fit with the Jets, and the fact that they have another solid center in Bryan Little, which he didn't have in Calgary, will help spread the coverage. He should be able to match the 61 points fairly easily, and perhaps add a few more to the total.

The signing shouldn't help or hinder anyone on the top line (Little, Blake Wheeler and Evander Kane), but it does knock Alexander Burmistrov's ice time down. He'll be in his third year and a breakout is now less likely.

Nik Antropov should see a boost in his outlook, thanks to an upgrade in his centerman. Ditto for Andrew Ladd.

Fantasy Players this helps, in order:

1. Jokinen

2. Antropov

3. Ladd

Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:

1. Burmistrov

Pavelec Any time I see a 1B centre sign with team like Winnipeg I add a handful of W's to the team. Even if Jokinen gives them 4-5 more wins than last year, that's good for Pavelec owners.

... Ray Ferraro said that Jokinen wasn't committed to fitness when they played together, but it appears that he has seen the light. I expect good things from him in the Peg this season.

... Burmistrov is supposed to pay wing next year I think and on the same line as Evander Kane possibly so I don't think this will hurt him at all. Might benefit him more if it means more mins this season in an offensive role and less defensive responsibility. Antropov is the guy this hurts if anything.
