The Kings get: A legitimate sniper to play in their top six. Gagne was inked to a two-year deal worth a total of $7 million. He has had some serious injury issues in recent years, but rebounded nicely with a strong stretch run and postseason with the Lightning in 2010-11.
Fantasy Players Impacted:
The Philadelphia connection continues in Los Angeles. Ron Hextall, John Stevens, Mike Richards, and now Simon Gagne. Gagne and Richards have previously played well together, so look for them to form the second scoring line behind Anze Kopitar. Los Angeles has quietly had a very, very good offseason. They aren't far off from Stanley Cup contention. The Kings now have six legitimate top six forwards, and a slew of solid depth forwards to back them up.
Potential Line Combos:
Penner-Kopitar-Williams Gagne-Richards-Brown
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Mike Richards 2. Dustin Brown
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Scott Parse 2. Brad Richardson 3. Andrei Loktionov (better as a center, but still probably takes away offensive minutes)

nice signing LA Being re-united with Richards I think will revive Gagne and possibly give Brown a career high year. Add Doughty to the mix and LA should have a killer PP. If Gagne can stay healthy his acquisition looks better on paper then if they got Brad Richards because of his chemistry with Mike. LA became serious contender in my eyes for the cup. If Gagne gets hurt they still have Loktionov/toffoli who might be ready for their chance on 2nd line |
