Fantasy Impact: The Florida Panthers have signed Jose Theodore to a two-year deal worth $1.5 million. (sorry for the older pic - too busy/crazy to find a new one!)
The Panthers get: a starter who was elite early in his career...and frankly, pretty terrible in the latter half of his career. Inconsistency has plagued Theodore like no other. But he extends his career further by smartly taking low dollars.
Fantasy Players Impacted: This move allows Jacob Markstrom to stay in the AHL for another year. It puts Theodore back in the mix in terms of fantasy value. If the Panthers win 35 games this year, he will get 18 of them. Scott Clemmensen will get 12, and give Markstrom five as he covers off injuries.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order: 1. Theodore
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order: 1. Markstrom 2. Clemmensen

Markstrom Hurt? I don't think this hurts Markstom. Theodore is a stopgap since Markstrom isn't ready yet. |
