Upsets! Well I find the easiest way to win play off pools is to simply pick the upsets. I had the same picks as Dobber (in that I didn't think ANA would be knocked out 1st round!). However I have TB beating WSH and PHI beating BOS. Its much easier to win a pool if my players are playing the next round and theirs are not. EVERYONE picks Washington, and I suspect most would pick BOS. Either way should be interesting! |

BOS-- NO PP= NO WIN BOS pp sucks... as much as I want them to win they wont get past the flyers if their PP continues to lack. and VAN is going to roll over the preds in 5. They're riding a all time high by beating the hawks and Rinne had a iffy series vs the ducks. If Rinne isnt at his best the series could be over in 4. |

Predictions Wash in 5 - TB barely survived against a Pitt team that didn't have 1st line and barely a 2nd line. 50 yr old Roloson will wear down - Neuvirth has never lost a post-season series as a #1. Phil in 6 - Philly is so much deeper at both forward and defense, especially on D with Pronger back, to make up for the slight advantage Thomas may have over Boucher / Leighton. Det in 6 - SJ barely got by an LA team without a legitimate 1st line (3OT wins) and gave up 3.33 goals/gm. Detroit's depth on both forward & D will be too much for SJ - very suspect D & Niemi is not > Howard. Van in 5 - demons exorcised with Chicago, huge weight lifted, Van will roll. With all the talk about Luongo & the Hawks it's overlooked that Rinne's numbers were even worse against Anaheim. Luongo will outplay Rinne. Nash beat Ana due to really shallow D & Visnovsky @ 50%. Emery is no Luongo / Schneider & Van has 3 1st line D pairings. What Van learned against Chicago is invaluable - it won't be close. |

self-props/confession I went 8/8 for probably the first time in my life...but I can now admit that even though I "picked" NSH over ANA I didn't really believe it. It was more like I wanted ANA to lose so bad that I had to pick NSH. Rd2 I'll go: VAN(6), SJ(7), TB(7), BOS(7) TB is my NSH for this round. BOS-PHI is almost a coin toss for me so I picked Thomas. |

... First off, like praba, I say cheers to Goldman for picking Nashville! That said, may the best team win between BOS and PHI - it is going to be a power series and looking forward to watching it unfold. Although, I chose Boston to represent the East in the finals, so I have to stick by that prediction! GMG |

Wow...Experts? I think the 'experts' didn't even watch the PHI/BUFF series. Sure some periods of shaky tending...but Boucher has implanted himself now for the long-haul with a 2.10 GAA and .934 SP - When really he had 10 minutes of trouble, otherwise he was great. The real issue was thier management of the tending situation - Not Boucher's play (save for those 10 minutes). Thomas won't finish the series as starter - PHI is far too deep for the crew after Chara to contain them - Miller made it a series with sound, technical tending - Thomas is FAR from that. Philly will win this series in 6 or less but to be finite - I will take PHI-PHI-PHI-BOS-PHI in 5 at Wells Fargo. WSH in 5 DET in 5 NSH in 7 |

Picks Wow, very surprised no one on the panel took TB. I like Washington here, but I definitely think Tampa has the ability to knock the Caps off. Not many Flyers picks on the board, which is also interesting to me. I think that series has been the hardest for everyone to pick. Hopefully that translates into an awesome series. I went 6/8 in round one and hope to go for 4/4 in round two! |

... I went 7/8 missing Nashville. Wasnt impressed with Bostons lack of discipline but I distrust Phillys goaltending more. Boston,Washington,Vancouver,Detroit (despite Howard-Niemi was even worse at times). |

My thoughts my selections are: WSH(6), BOS(7), VAN(6), SJS(5) San Jose's offense will be too much for Howard mo Washington and tampa series will be really good, tight games, with special teams deciding it Boston will get redemption nuff said Vancouver will outplay Nashville in alot of ways, other then goaltending, so im saying Rinne will steal two games |

Philly-Boston This will go 7 and be a very physical, good series. The difference in goal is not nearly as bad as the media and some fans have blown it up to be. Boucher has a good track record in the playoffs, added to it again vs Buffalo and with this defense (Pronger back) complete and our forwards playing responsible 2-way hockey, I like the Flyers to outlast the Bruins again. Thomas showed some cracks of his own vs Montreal and i think Rask will be used in this series at some point. |

Boston re JW: Boston faced Carey Price... now they are facing 2nd tier goaltenders... they'll win it... |

Boston They barely scrape by Montreal with a pathetic powerplay and most of you expect them to take down Philly? Dream on. Hate to say it Dobbs but you're going to be 8/12 after this round. |

... In my money pool I have VAN/SJS and WAS/BOS in the conference finals, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so. Love the ballsy pick by Goldman...he must really have faith in Rinne. |
