Fantasy Impact: Florida Panthers trade Radek Dvorak to the Atlanta Thrashers for Niclas Bergfors and Patrick Rissmiller.
The Panthers get: a young, potential second liner who could be a 25-goal, 65-point player in Bergfors
The Thrashers get: an experienced player who can better play the game that the coach is looking for. For some reason, Bergfors never fit into the system.
Fantasy Players Impacted: I think the Thrashers will try Dvorak on the second line and his output should get a boost. At the cost of? Anthony Stewart. He's finally slowing down and that could prove costly as they bring in a veteran body who can play the second line if the team is desperate - which they are.
Bergfors desperately needed a change of scenery and he got one. It's unfortunate that this is not a good fit for him. Peter DeBoer probably won't like him, if Craig Ramsay didn't like him. Remember - this is the team that waived Michael Grabner. The coach likes the grinders and not so much the skill. That being said, it is a new city and it can't be any worse than the old one. Fantasy Players this helps, in order: 1. Dvorak 2. Bergfors Fantasy Players this hurts, in order: 1. Stewart

The way I read this trade was... Players involved on this trade go from one horrible team to another horrible team. When reached for comment via phone, you could only hear sobbing on the other end. |
