Fantasy Impact: The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired Fabian Brunnstrom from the Dallas Stars.
The Leafs get: a once hyped prospect who is toiling away in the AHL at the moment. Brunnstrom was the subject of much interest three summers ago, but aside from a three-goal NHL debut, he has been a major flop in North America.
The Stars get: Mikhail Stefanovich, Toronto’s 4th round draft pick back in 2008. Stefanovich played three years in the QMJHL before turning pro. He has returned home to play this season in the KHL.
Fantasy Players Impacted: The fantasy impact of this deal is minimal at best. Brunnstrom is in tough to earn a call up to the NHL, even on the offensively challenged Leafs. Dave Nonis has finally landed Brunnstrom, as he was hotly pursuing the Swede during his days as the former Vancouver GM. Brunstrom has 11 goals and 21 points in 37 AHL games this season. He had two goals in 44 NHL games last year.
Going from a strong offensive club (Dallas) to a weaker one will help, but I’d only consider him if you are in an incredibly deep keeper league and are able to stash him away somewhere deep within your roster.
Players this helps, in order: 1. Brunnstrom
Players this hurts, in order: None

Not a thing about MS in the analysis Hey Angus, any insight on the impact on Stefanovich? Or did Dallas give away Brunnstrom for basically nothing in return? Thanks. |
